A Tiny Hangar for Tiny Planes

This is one project that I’ve embarked on that took longer than was anticipated at first. There have been a few hiccups along the way as well, such as two of the walls starting to warp on me.

Unfortunately, the front end of this is intended to be removed, so bracing on the outside is what I may need to resort to in order to straighten them out.  I am definitely open to suggestions from any of our readers.  On another note, some of our viewers have asked for a video of our RC yoke project, and I promise we will be getting back to that soon.  While that is being worked on, we decided to share a bit about this project that is in the oven as well.  This is a micro war bird hangar.  It is meant to serve a number of purposes.  First it is a backdrop for a few planned film projects.  Secondly it is a workstation for building micro balsa planes, and

repairing micro foam planes.  Third, it will serve to store most of the spare parts for the walnut scale birds (such as props, landing gear, etc.) The trusses have been the most tedious part of the project so far.  Here I was able to utilize an old career skill, the technique of flat-arch building for real structural wood framing that is used in homes (a process I will detail in the build documentation).  The webs of the trusses are for the most part structurally accurate with the exception of the joist sections, which were made up.  IMG_0289I’m going to keep this article brief and just share a few images of the build so far.  Once I’ve sorted the warping issues and wrapped this up, full documentation on the build will be shared.                                                      -Richard                                                                                                        Note: Thanks for taking the time to visit our site.  This is a hobbyist and enthusiast run IMG_0287site for hobbyists and enthusiasts.  If you have something that you would like to share through Fun4Change, feel free to send us a message through our contact form.  Thanks,
